Lovingly known as “Amma” or Mother of Absolute Bliss in a Saint from South India who is globally known for her charity work and donations to crises affected areas. Amma has been hugging devotees at an early age and is known to have hugged 21 million people. Amma was the President of the Centenary Parlimant of World Religions in Chicago in 1993. She attended and addressed the United Nations where she was awarded. Her hugs are said to have healing powers and they also give an opportunity to see amma’s selfless love and soothe their souls. Swamis (priests) from Amma’s ashram visited Philippines in Septermber 2007 and several poojas (offerings) were held by Amma’s growing number of devotees in Manila .
